Yekaterinburg Zoo

Yekaterinburg Zoo founded in 1930 is situated on Mamina-Sibiryaka Street, 189. Currently it shelters over 350 species of animals on an area of 2.7 hectares. The zoo is a member of the Eurasian Regional Association of Zoos and Aquariums. There are five pavilions for warm-blooded animals and a complex of enclosures for northern latitudes' predators. A special place belongs to the largest bird and exotic predator pavilion built in 1997-1998. Among its longtime residents stands out Almaz the hippo who moved here in 1997 after a lengthy wait for construction completion.
