Kislovodsk Kurzal

Kurzhal in Kislovodsk built in 1895 became the center of regional cultural life. Opened in 1896 as the most luxurious resort hall of the Russian Empire it hosted performances by famous artists such as Fedor Chaliapin, Leonid Sobinov and Isadora Duncan. During World War II the building was used as a military hospital. Characteristic acoustics of the hall are created by double roofing known as "Musical Shell".
