Memorial Sign in Honor of the Liberators of Smolensk from the Nazi Invaders

A memorial sign in honor of the liberators of Smolensk from the Nazi invaders was unveiled on September 25, 1967, at the intersection of Oktyabrskoy Revolyutsii and Dzerzhinsky streets. The project was created by sculptor G.N. Samodelkin and architect Yu.A. Shatalov. A high relief of an artillery crew supporting the infantry attack is placed on a red granite monument two meters high. The figures of the soldiers and the cannon are made of copper.
