Monument to Architect Fyodor Kony

The monument to the architect Fyodor Kony in Smolensk was erected in 1991 near the first restored fortress tower — the Gromovaya Tower. The sculpture by O.N. Komov and architect A.K. Anipko is dedicated to the Russian architect of the second half of the 16th century who supervised the construction of the Smolensk fortress wall from 1596 to 1602. Since no authentic images of Fyodor Kony have survived, the monument represents a collective image of a Russian architect from the late 16th to early 17th century.
