N. Krilenko Monument

In Smolensk, at the intersection of Kommunisticheskaya Street and Marshal Zhukov Avenue, there stands a monument to Nikolay Krylenko. It was created by sculptor V.E. Gorev and installed in 1985 to commemorate the centenary of the revolutionary's birth. Krylenko, whose father edited the newspaper "Smolensky Vestnik," holds paper sheets in his left hand. Architectural improvements were supervised by N.A. Sokolov and I.I. Marchenkov. Nikolay Krylenko received orders Lenin and Red Banner, and was executed in 1938.
