General A.A. Skalon Monument-Cenotaph

The cenotaph-monument to General A.A. Skalon is installed in Lopatinsky Garden in Smolensk. Here, near the place where he died, the body of the general was found by French soldiers in August 1812. The cenotaph was erected by Skalons' grandsons on the anniversary of the general's death - August 5, 1912. Anton Antonych Skalon, born in 1767, fought for Russia and perished in the Smolensk battle of the same year.
