Monument to A.T. Tvardovsky and Vasily Terkin

The monument to Alexander Tvardovsky and Vasily Terkin on Victory Square in Smolensk was solemnly opened on May 2, 1995, on the occasion of the fiftieth anniversary of the Victory. The bronze sculptural composition, cast according to the design of A.G. Sergeev, depicts the front-line poet and his literary character having a friendly conversation during a halt. The Smolensk land is the birthplace of Tvardovsky, who was posthumously awarded the title of honorary citizen of the hero city.
