Smolensk Linen Museum

The Smolensk Linen Museum is situated in Nikolskaya Tower of the Smolensk Fortress wall. It was opened on December 4th, 2012 and is the first museum in Russia dedicated to the history of linen farming in Smolensk region. Visitors can see plowing tools, cultivation and processing instruments for flax, as well as traditional costumes, belts and headwear of local residents. Previously the museum was located on Tenisheva Street but later returned to its historical fortress building.
