Memorial to Soviet Prisoners of War. Camp No. 126

The Memorial to Soviet Prisoners of War is situated in Smolensk at the intersection of Zoya Kosmodemyanskaya Street and Normandie-Nieman Avenue. Built in 1975, it commemorates over 45,000 Soviet citizens who perished in Camp No. 126 during the city's occupation. The architectural ensemble features three massive inverted concrete trapezoids at the entrance and a ceremonial area with a bronze wreath. Inside the trapezoids there are windows with prison bars, recalling the tragic events of the past.
