Mourning Mother Memorial

Memorial "Weeping Mother" in Smolensk was opened in 1970. It is situated in Readovsky Park near the Field of Immortality. On the memorial stone there are engraved verses by Smolensk poet Nikolay Rylenkov. Inside its walls rest remains of over 3000 deceased. Architects A.G. Stemparzhitsky and G.G. Soosar were involved in the project, while sculptor A.G. Sergeev and artist S.S. Novikov contributed to it.
