Smolensk State Museum-Reserve Art Gallery

The Smolensk State Museum-Reserve Art Gallery is located at Kommunisticheskaya Street, 4. This building is a XIX-century civil architecture monument, previously being the Alexandrov Real School. It houses a permanent exhibition featuring over 500 exhibits including works by famous Russian artists such as Aivazovsky, Kuindzhi, Serov, Repin, Korovin. There is also a special collection of Old Russian art belonging to Princess M.K. Tenisheva. The gallery was opened on May 1, 1920 and is among the city's major attractions.
