Bogoyavlensky Cathedral

The Church of the Lord's Baptism in Smolensk is dedicated to the Feast of the Baptism. It is situated on the Cathedral Hill near the Assumption Cathedral. The first building of the church was wooden and constructed from 1708 to 1712, then it was replaced with a brick temple in 1787. The current structure retains the architectural features of the original cross-shaped plan. The church belongs to the Smolensk Metropolitan See of the Russian Orthodox Church.
