N. V. Tsitsin Monument

The monument to N. V. Tsitsin is located in Saratov at the corner of Rakhova and Vavilov streets, where a bust of the scientist was solemnly unveiled on September 10, 1985. Nikolay Vasilyevich Tsitsin was born in Saratov in 1898 into a poor peasant family, graduated from the V. I. Lenin Workers' Faculty at the university, and then from the Saratov Institute of Agriculture and Land Reclamation. In 1939, he was elected a full member of the USSR Academy of Sciences, and in 1968 he received the title of Hero of Socialist Labor. Since 1945, Tsitsin headed the Main Botanical Garden of the USSR Academy of Sciences.
