Samarsky Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre named after D.D. Shostakovich opened in 1931 with the premiere of the opera "Boris Godunov". During the Great Patriotic War, artists from the Bolshoi Theatre performed here. The building was designed by architect N. Trotsk in 1932 in the style of neoclassicism. Over its long history, the theater has presented over 500 performances, including world and national premieres.
