Chapayev Monument

The monument to V.I. Chapaev in Samara stands on his namesake square. The sculpture depicts Chapaev on horseback with a naked sabre, created by Matvey Manizer. The monument was opened on November 7, 1932 under the initiative of revolution and Civil War veterans. Architectural part was designed by Yosif Langbard. The composition symbolizes unity of various divisions of the Red Army and represents an important example of Soviet monumental sculpture of the 1930s.
