Historical and Regional Studies Museum (Alфераки Palace)

The Historical and Regional Studies Museum is located in the former Alфераk Palace on Frunze Street in Taganrog. The palace, built in the neo-baroque style according to architect A. Shtackenshneider's project, is a monument of architecture from the late 19th century. Since 1927, it has housed a regional studies museum founded by A. P. Chekhov to commemorate Taganrog's anniversary. The exhibition includes over seven thousand items, while the interiors of the palace impress with their opulence and grandeur, reminiscent of royal chambers.
