Old Ascension Church

The Church of Old Ascension is situated in Pskov on Soviet Street. The monument is part of an ancient monastic ensemble and differs from other Ascension churches in the city by its name. The temple was built on the site of the demolished Old Ascension in 1833 instead of a destroyed female convent of the XII-XVII centuries. It reflects changes in urban development after the closure of monasteries and is linked to the history of the female monastic community of Pskov.
