Penza Zoo

Penza Zoo is located on the territory of the former bishop's garden, the first mentions of which date back to 1848, and has been open to visitors since January 1, 1981. On an area of 9.8 hectares with a height difference of 22 meters, there are nine landscape sections, a birch grove, a larch alley, an orchard, and three ponds connected by channels. The institution participates in international programs for the conservation of rare species, such as Amur tigers, Przewalski's horses, cranes, and Moluccan cockatoos. Of the 143 animal species living here, all are protected species under CITES or the Red Books.
