First Settler Monument

The monument "First Settler" is situated on the historical rampart of Penza Fortress at 19 Kirova Street. It was created by artist Azaria Mamatkadze and symbolizes the founders and first inhabitants of the fortress. From an adjacent observation platform, one can see the eastern and southeastern parts of the city as well as the valley of the Sura River. The monument has become a popular symbol of Penza and appears on souvenirs. This is a cultural heritage site of regional significance.
