Penzyak the Thick-Legged Monument

In Penza on Moscow Street there's a monument called "Thickheel." The sculpture was made by German Feoktistov and Valery Kuznetsov. It shows a bronze Penza man putting on a sock. The concept ties back to a saying by Suvorov about locals. The unveiling happened on November 6, 2018. The piece is part of modern city symbolism and is located near the "Proverb Piggy Bank" Square. According to lore, the term "thick heel" refers to double socks knit by Penza soldiers.
