New Building of the Penza Local Lore Museum

The new building of the Penza Local Lore Museum is located in the historic first building of the Office of the Presence, which is an object of cultural heritage of federal significance. The building, constructed in 1786–1787 in the style of Russian Classicism according to the design of architect Yakov Ananin, underwent restoration in 2019–2022. In 1865–1866, satirical writer Mikhail Saltykov-Shchedrin, who held the position of Chairman of the Penza State Chamber, as well as Vice-Governor Alexander Zhemchuzhnikov, worked here. The grand opening of the museum's new building took place on October 16, 2023.
