Omsk State Academic Drama Theatre located at Lenina Street, 8A is the oldest theater in the city founded in 1874. The building constructed in 1905 by architect Il'odor Khvorinov is recognized as a historical and architectural monument. The theatre received the title "academic" in 1983 and is among leading regional dramatic ensembles of Russia. Throughout its history it has been awarded numerous prizes including Golden Mask Awards, Russian State Award named after Fedor Volkov and recognition as the workplace for evacuated Vakhtangov's Theater during World War II.
