Omsk Fortress

Historical and cultural complex of Omsk Fortress is situated on Tukhachevsky Embankment in Omsk. It is a guard fortification of Siberian Line built in late 1760s. Through the fortress there were four entry gates locked at night. A distinctive feature of the complex is the "Museum without glass" principle: buildings have been preserved and open spaces remain accessible. Tobolsk Gates constructed in 1794 are a federal cultural heritage monument. The foundation of the fortress is linked to the beginning of the city's history.
