Novosibirsk-Glavnyy Railway Station

Novosibirsk Main Station was built in the form of a triumphal arch with toscanic order pilasters. Construction began in 1925, the new building was put into operation in 1939. The project was developed by a team of architects led by B. Gordeev, S. Turgenev and B. Bitkin with participation of N. Voloshinov and consultation from A. Kryachkov. The arched vault and reinforced concrete structures were designed by engineer N. Nikitin in 1937. A competition for the best design was announced by the Moscow Architectural Society in 1929 on behalf of the Tomsk Railway.
