Alexander Nevsky Cathedral

Alexander Nevsky Cathedral in Novosibirsk is situated on Krasny Prospekt, 1a. The church has three altars: the main one dedicated to Saint Alexander Nevsky and side ones dedicated to Nikolay the Miracle Worker and George the Victorious. Construction began in 1895 according to architect K.K. Lygin's design under engineer N.M. Tikhomirov's supervision. Icons inside the cathedral were painted by artists from Tomsk workshop. The cathedral became a monument to Emperor Alexander III, the builder of Trans-Siberian Railway. Full consecration after restoration took place in May 1991.
