Sergiy Radonejsky Church

The Church of St. Sergius of Radonezh is situated within Novgorod's Kremlin, next to the Bell-Tower of 1673 and the Vicar's Building of the 19th century. It is a small gatehouse church belonging to the type of pill-less single-domed single-apse temples. After the restoration of the 20th century, ancient portals, niches and fragments of the apse became visible. Inside there remain unique window openings from the 15th century and traces of old roofing. The temple was repeatedly reconstructed: during the 17th-19th centuries its upper part, windows, niches and altar changed, as well as a baroque dome cover appeared. The site is accessible for visits as part of tours around the Bishop's Courtyard.
