John the Baptist Church on Opoki

St. John the Baptist Church on Opoki — the oldest stone church of Novgorod the Great, founded by Prince Vsevolod Mstislavich in 1127. The church became an administrative center of the Market due to the royal charter and served as a storage place for standard measures and weights, functioning also as a trading court. Its original dimensions were approximately 24.6 by 16 meters. Located in the northern part of Yaroslav's Courtyard, the church is a monument of ancient construction history with a six-pillared structure, three apses, and a narthex.
