Church of St Philip and St Nikolay

In Veliky Novgorod there is a church of Apostle Philip and Saint Nikolay, situated at the intersection of Nikolskaya and Znamenskaya streets. This is an integrated complex of two temples: the Church of Philip and the Church of Saint Nikolay, built between 1527-1528. Each church has its own area and interior layout although their heights are equal. Funding for construction was provided by local residents and merchants from Novgorod and Moscow. Inside operates a side chapel dedicated to all saints of the Novgorod land. Until mid-seventeenth century each part of the temple had its own congregation.
