Novgorod Kremlin (Detinets)

Novgorod Kremlin, or Detinets, occupies an area exceeding 12 hectares within fortress walls ranging from 8 to 15 meters high and 3.6 to 6.5 meters thick. It includes churches dedicated to St. Sergius Radonezhsky and Andrey Stratilat, as well as the famous Sophian Cathedral founded in 1045. A Children's Museum Center operates here. Nine out of twelve towers from the 15th century have survived. The site is included on UNESCO's World Cultural Heritage List.
