Novgorod Academic Drama Theatre named after F.M. Dostoevsky

Novgorod Academic Drama Theatre named after Feodor Mikhailovich Dostoevsky traces its history back to 1825 and is one of Russia's oldest theatres. Since 1997 it bears the name of the great writer. Since 1999 it has held "academic" status. In January 2023 it was temporarily closed for reconstruction. The theatre is located in a new building designed by architect Somov, moving there in 1987. Plays based on works by Russian and foreign classics are performed here as well as at Novgorod Regional Philharmonic Hall. The building is recognized as the city's main architectural attraction of modern times.
