Monument to Victory

The Victory Monument in Veliky Novgorod was opened on January 20, 1974. It features the city's sole horse statue and stands on Ekaterininsky Hill. The central part of the monument is a bronze rider atop a horse with an uplifted sword; behind him rises a brick tower adorned with reliefs depicting military events. The tower is crowned with a small boat. The monument is situated on Sofiyskaya Embankment as a tribute to the victory of the Soviet Union in World War II.
