Victory Monument

The Victory Monument in Veliky Novgorod was opened on January 20, 1974. It is the only city monument in the form of a horse statue. The central part of the composition is a bronze rider on a horse with a raised sword, behind which rises a brick tower with reliefs depicting key events of World War II. The tower is crowned with a small boat, and the monument is located on Ekaterininsky Hill in memory of the victory of the USSR over fascists.
