Monument to the Conquerors of Space

The Monument "Conquerors of Space" was installed in Moscow on Mira Prospect, in Ostankino District. It was opened on October 4, 1964 and dedicated to the achievements of the USSR in space exploration. The height of the structure reaches 107 meters. The project was developed by architects Mikhail Barsh and Alexander Kolchin with the involvement of engineer Lev Shchipakin and sculptor Andrey Faidyshev-Krandiayevsky. The monument depicts the figure of a person rising upwards among rays of sunshine.
