St. Trinity Sergиев Lavra
Сергиев Посад, Свято-Троицкая Сергиева лавра
St. Trinity Sergiyeva Lavra, founded by St. Sergius of Radonezh in 1337, is one of Russia's most important spiritual centers. Included on UNESCO's World Heritage List in 1993, it includes over 50 architectural monuments from various eras. The main structures are the Trinity Cathedral (1422) and the Assumption Cathedral (1559-1585), built in the style of Moscow Kremlin. The Lavra survived sieges during the Time of Troubles and became a symbol of the resilience of Russian Orthodox tradition.
