Holy-Troitsa Sergiev Lavra

Holy-Troitsa Sergiev Lavra — ancient Orthodox monastery founded by Saint Sergius Radonezhsky in 1337. Included in UNESCO World Heritage List since 1993. Contains the main temple of the ensemble — Troitse Cathedral built in 1422 where relics of the founder are kept. Over centuries an architectural complex consisting of more than 50 buildings and structures from various eras has formed, including Shestodeviya Church-Bell Tower built in 1476 by Pskov masters. Special significance belongs to Assumption Cathedral constructed between 1559-1585 based on design of Kremlin temple.
