Pyatnitskie Gates

Kolomna, Zaytseva St, 14

The Pyatnitskie Gates in Kolomna are the only surviving tower from a stone wall with 14 towers, adjacent to the Pyatnitskaya Chapel, built in the 1820s in the classical style. The outline of the tower resembles the Spasskaya Tower of the Moscow Kremlin, and its rectangular base measures 14 by 22 meters. Under the tower there is a vaulted passage that connected the fortress with the city in case of necessity, and the Zhitnaya Square adjoined the gates, where the main trading operations took place. According to the restoration plan for the 850th anniversary of Kolomna in 2027, work will begin with this object.
