Kolomenskaya Pastila

Kolomna, Posadskaya Street, 13A

The Kolomna Pastila Museum is located in the very heart of the Kolomna Posad near the Church of St. Nicholas on Posadyakh. Here, ancient pastila recipes have been restored from archives and old books through the efforts of Natalia Nikitina, Elena Dmitrieva, and the team of the ANO "Kolomna Posad," while its boxes are made at a manual cardboard production facility following 19th-century traditions with the participation of people with disabilities. The museum has revived Dostoevsky's favorite pastila — red smokva, white pastila in sticks, and almond mufftovaya — which is served during the "Tea with Dostoevsky" program, where guests write messages with a fountain pen and send them through the "Museum Mail." The "History with Taste" project, which revived pastila production, was launched in 2008 during the European Speed Skating Championship in Kolomna.
