Church of Elijah the Prophet in Sandyri
Kolomna, Oktyabrskoy Revolyutsii Street, 73
The Church of Elijah the Prophet in Sandyri is a stone temple built in 1834 with funds provided by peasants Georgy Fyodorovich and Galaktion Gerasimovich Bakulins. The building's gable roof was covered with iron, a gilded eight-pointed cross made of white tin stood on the dome, and inside there was a gilded carved five-tiered iconostasis. In 1907, Alexey Pavlovich Bakulin became the church warden, and in 1910 he received a gold medal on St. Andrew's ribbon for his work on the beautification of the temple. Patronal feasts are celebrated on August 2, the day of the Prophet Elijah, as well as on May 22 and December 19, the days of Saint Nicholas, when the Bakulins brought a choir of Moscow singers.
