Church of Saint Nikita the Martyr

Kolomna, Posadskaya Street, 32

The Church of St. Nikita the Martyr in Kolomna is a single-dome, pillarless structure, which is a high two-story quadrangle covered with a closed vault. In 1773, at the expense of merchant Ivan Meshchaninov, the bell tower, porch, and northern chapel were rebuilt in the church, and part of the 1830 frescoes were preserved on the vault and walls. The church owned a two-story house, where the prosphora maker lived on the lower stone floor, and the upper wooden floor was rented out. In the 19th century, infants suffering from "colic" were brought to the church for blessing and applying a copy from the altar to the sore spot.
