Church of St. Nicholas the Guest
Kolomna, Lazareva Street, 16
The Church of St. Nicholas the Guest in Kolomna, located at 16 Lazareva Street, was built in 1514 by Bishop Mitrofan of Kolomna at the behest of Grand Prince Vasily Ivanovich. In 1929, the temple was closed, the upper tiers of the bell tower and drums were destroyed, and in the 1930s, the stone fence with wrought-iron grilles was demolished. During the 1848 reconstruction, the windows of the building were widened and the facades were redesigned, but elements of the three-lobed completion and the base of the drum with kokoshniks were preserved under the plaster and new roof. In the early 20th century, the church housed icons of St. Nicholas of Zaraysk, the Mother of God "Joy of All Who Sorrow" and "Don", as well as a carved image of the Suffering Savior. During the Soviet era, the building was used as a transit point and a sports school.
