Church of John the Theologian
Kolomna, Dvukh Revolyutsiy Square, 1
The Church of John the Theologian in Kolomna is located on the Square of Two Revolutions and has the status of a cultural heritage site of federal significance in Russia. The stone church with a chapel of the Martyr John the Warrior was built on Zhitnaya Square after a fire, and in 1835 a new iconostasis was installed in the main church, the gilding of which was paid for by the Kolomna townsman F. G. Dremyazgin. In 1865, a quadrangle of trading premises was built around the church according to the design of architect I. A. Dagaev. Among the shrines of the church, the icon "Nicholas with his Life" stands out, which N. M. Karinsky dated to the end of the 14th century, and V. N. Lazarev noted its rebellious spirit, echoing Pskov icons.
