Church of Michael the Archangel
Kolomna, Grazhdanskaya Street, 71
The Church of the Archangel Michael in Kolomna is an object of cultural heritage of federal significance. Before the Revolution, the chapel of St. John the Warrior at the city prison was assigned to the church, where priests ministered to the prisoners. In the 1930s, the church was closed, and a museum was placed in its building, which was described as a bright, spacious hall with stands on gray canvas. In 2007, the temple was transferred to the Church, after which the partitions inside were dismantled, the vault was reinforced, the white stone floors were restored, and the heating system was completely replaced. The quadrangle of the temple is equal in height and width to the refectory, forming a single external volume, highlighted by side porticos with pediments and crowned with a rotunda with a hemispherical dome.
