Uspensky Brusensky Convent

Kolomna, Brusensky Lane, 36

The Uspensky Brusensky Convent in Kolomna was placed under special care of the Synod on March 18, when the townspeople pledged to supply the monastery in case of need. During the abbess Olympiada's tenure in 1849–1851, the western and northern cells buildings were completed, along with a two-story abbess's building to the north of the Uspensky Church, as well as a carriage shed, while the Uspensky Church itself was covered with iron. For the interior decoration of the Exaltation of the Cross Cathedral, Moscow philanthropist Yakov Yakovlevich Ermakov donated 30 thousand rubles; at that time, his daughter Feodosia lived in the convent under the name Theophania. In 1931, on May 21 and 22, more than thirty nuns and novices were arrested and imprisoned in the Kolomna prison.
