Bell Tower of the New Golutvin Monastery
Kolomna, Lazareva Street, 11
The bell tower of the Novo-Golutvin Monastery in Kolomna is an 1825 gate bell tower, which is an object of cultural heritage of federal significance. The largest bell of the bell tower, weighing 259 poods 32 pounds, was cast by master Akim Vorobyov at the expense of merchant Kipriyan Kislov, and it was decorated with images of the Holy Trinity and Sergius of Radonezh. In 1975–1977, Kolomna restorers restored the building, plastering it and returning the lost rustication, and also bricked up the sides of the opening in the bell tier, which had been widened when the large bell was dropped in the 1920s. On October 31, 1988, the bell tower became part of a complex of buildings transferred to the Russian Orthodox Church for the first cenobitic convent in the Moscow diocese.
