Kostroma State Drama Theatre named after A.N. Ostrovsky

Kostroma State Drama Theatre named after A.N. Ostrovsky is located at Mira Avenue, 9. Founded in 1808 and named officially in honor of Alexander Nikolaevich Ostrovsky in 1923. The theater is known for the festival "Ostrovsky Days in Kostroma," held since 1973, and reconstruction from 1957-1958 when facades, foyer and auditorium were updated. Built in 1863 with funds from local residents, it survived through World War II while continuing its operations even during difficult times.
