Architectural-Ethnographic Department Kostroma Settlement

Architectural and Ethnographic Department "Kostroma Sloboda" - an open-air museum in Kostroma. It features wooden churches and peasant cottages from the 16th to 18th centuries, moved from areas affected by construction of the Gorky Hydroelectric Power Station. Next to the museum is Ipatiev Monastery, situated at the confluence of rivers Kostroma and Volga. Exhibits include traditional peasant buildings such as barns, threshing floors, and smithy. Established since late 1960s, it is among the oldest institutions of its kind in Russia.
