Кострома, ул. Просвещения, 1Б

Architectural and Ethnographic Department "Kostroma Sloboda" — a unique open-air museum in Kostroma. It includes wooden churches and peasant cottages from the 16th to 18th centuries, moved here after flooding of historical places during construction of Gorky Hydroelectric Power Station. Located near Ipatiev Monastery, on the picturesque confluence of rivers Kostroma and Volga. This place has become the main source of acquaintance with traditional wooden architecture of the region, as ancient wooden buildings of Kostroma have disappeared. The museum is open to visitors since 1955.
