Skaz Theatre

Novokuznetsk, Metallurgov Avenue, 18

The "Skaz" Theater in Novokuznetsk was founded on February 8, 1942, when the premiere of the play "The Wolf and the Seven Little Goats" took place with actors from the evacuated Novosibirsk "Krasny Fakel" theater. In 2003, the production "Petrushka and the Frog Princess" received the Audience Choice Award at the International KUKART-VI Festival in St. Petersburg. Since 1966, the theater has been located in the former assembly hall of the Siberian Metallurgical Institute, where, after the 2014 restoration, 63 windows were replaced while preserving the contour of the openings. The building also retains the restored stained glass windows from the 1980s by artist N. S. Statnykh, which were originally created for the "Kommunar" cinema.
