Oktyabrsky Avenue

Novokuznetsk, Oktyabrskiy Ave

Oktyabrsky Avenue in Novokuznetsk emerged on the site of a two-kilometer wasteland that was regularly flooded by the Tom River until 1957. In 1961, after the dam was built, construction of the first microdistrict "New Republic" began here, where the city's first panel tower houses appeared. On January 6, 1978, the first trolleybus in the city passed along the avenue, and in 1967, the "Siberia" cinema with 1240 seats was opened. The continuation of the avenue is the Kondomskoye Highway, which connects the city with the Sintering Plant, and at the intersection with Bardina and Kirov Streets, the House of Services and the city's largest hotel "Novokuznetskaya" were built.
