Soviet Square
Kemerovo, Sovetov Square
Sovetskaya Square in Kemerovo was developed according to the design of architect Leonid Moiseenko, who envisioned the Main Post Office and the city administration buildings as a single architectural ensemble. For a long time, the issue of a Lenin monument on the square had no prospects until Afanasy Eshtokin began to govern the region, although in 1992 attempts were made to dismantle the monument. The main New Year's spruce of the city is traditionally installed on this same central territory; it is assembled on a steel frame with two thousand branches and 200,000 LEDs, designed for 15 years of service.
