Palace of Labour
Kemerovo, Karbolitovskaya Street, 11
The Palace of Labor in Kemerovo, located on Karbolitovskaya Street, is an example of "stone constructivism," as it was built from natural sandstone due to a shortage of bricks. The central part of the building houses an auditorium with balconies and a stage, as well as rooms for clubs, a gymnasium hall, and a kitchen with a buffet; glazed partitions have been preserved in the interiors, and a monolithic reinforced concrete staircase is located in the tower, although the clock was never installed there. From 1960 to 1979, the regional philharmonic was located here, and now it houses the Kuzbass College of Culture and Arts named after I. D. Kobzon. The construction was declared a people's project, and in different years, a drama theater, a museum, and a regional library also operated in the building.
