Kemerovo Regional Museum of Local Lore

Kemerovo, Sovetsky Avenue, 55

The Kemerovo Regional Museum of Local Lore was opened on October 6, 1929, in the city of Shcheglovsk, and after its renaming in 1932, it received its current name. For the 30th anniversary of Victory in 1975, the institution received additional premises on the Prityomskaya Embankment, where the department of military history was placed with a 2005 exposition about the contribution of Kuzbass residents to the Great Patriotic War. This department features an anti-tank gun, a reactive projectile for the "Katyusha," a Shpagin submachine gun, and a lathe evacuated to Kemerovo in 1942. Since 1997, the collection "With Love for Kuzbass" has been formed here, and an excursion through the nature department covers 4.5 billion years of the region's history, including findings of armored dinosaur remains.
