Baltic Sea Hotel Building

Zelenogradsk, Lenina St, 1

The building of the "Baltic Sea" Hotel (German: Hotel Ostsee) was constructed in Cranz in 1885 in the neoclassical style. Among its architectural features are risalits, cornices, rustic plaster, and pediments over the windows of the second floor, while inside, antique railings and patterned grilles on the stair landings have been preserved. After World War I, it housed the Bromberg Railway Control Directorate, and later the building belonged to the Women's Union of Königsberg, which established a nursing home there. As of August 2018, the former hotel housed the local Department of Education and a Ministry of Internal Affairs department, and the building itself has been a cultural heritage site of local significance since 2007.
